My name is Robbie Blue. I've been watching what's happening to this country for a long time, and I am genuinely afraid of where we are heading. The slide toward authoritarianism is not a metaphor. It is not hyperbole. It is documented, measurable, and happening in broad daylight while most people are busy living their lives.
I believe I truly believe that most Americans are not indifferent. They are misinformed. Or under-informed. Or simply overwhelmed by the volume of what is happening. Every single day there is a new story. A new pardon for a donor. A new self-dealing scheme. A new attack on an institution that took generations to build. And most people never hear about it, or hear about it for fifteen seconds before the next outrage buries it.
That is exactly what they are counting on. That you will get tired. That you will tune out. That the sheer volume of it will overwhelm your ability to be appropriately angry.
So this is my answer to that. I am not a journalist. I am not a politician. I am not a lawyer or an academic or an activist with a nonprofit behind me. I am someone with a little skill at building things on the internet, and I decided to use it.
