It won’t be over for a bit.” The same president who claimed “unconditional surrender” in France last month is now bombing Iranian ports again while simultaneously attending a NATO summit. The war he said he ended is not ended. The gas prices that were supposed to come down are not coming down. The plausible deniability machine runs on.
2. 🌍 NATO Summit: Give Me Greenland or I Pull the Troops

At the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump declared that Greenland “should be controlled by the United States, not by Denmark,” and threatened to withdraw all U.S. troops from Europe if allies continued to resist. He called Spain “a terrible partner” and ordered Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to halt all trade with Madrid because it wouldn’t let the U.S. use its bases to bomb Iran. The alliance that has kept the peace in Europe for 77 years is being held hostage to a real estate negotiation over an island its residents don’t want to sell.

The same administration that screams about government overreach in healthcare, education, and environmental regulation has now given itself a kill switch over the most important technology of the 21st century. The free market is sacred, apparently, unless it produces something the government wants to control.
4. 🩸 Another Death in ICE Custody

The family of Geraldo Lunas Campos, a 55-year-old Cuban immigrant whose death in ICE custody was ruled a likely homicide, is suing four guards and the companies that oversaw Camp East Montana — a sprawling immigration detention tent camp at Fort Bliss in El Paso. Another human being, in American custody, dead under circumstances a medical examiner classified as a likely homicide. The guards are employed by a private contractor. The facility is run by another private contractor. The accountability stops at every corporate firewall. Twenty-one deaths in ICE detention in 2026 and counting.
5. 👑 “Actually, I Should Say Third Term”

In his July 4th speech on the National Mall, Trump said: “I should say third term, but I won’t do that, because I don’t want any controversy.” He said this while talking about Venezuela and Iran. He said it. On the Fourth of July. On the National Mall. He called it his third term and then walked it back in the same sentence as a joke that wasn’t quite a joke. On the 250th birthday of a republic built on the peaceful transfer of power, the president suggested he’s already serving a term he was never elected to. Nobody in the room appeared surprised.
6. 🇻🇪 130 Dead Deportees and $8 Billion Sitting Frozen

The U.N. Development Program estimates June’s earthquakes caused $6.7 billion in damage in Venezuela. The United States has provided just $300 million in recovery aid — while sitting on some $8 billion worth of Venezuela’s oil wealth, seized after the U.S. abduction of former President Nicolás Maduro. More than 130 people the U.S. deported to Venezuela are feared dead in those earthquakes. We sent them there. We hold their country’s money. We gave them $300 million of the $8 billion we control. The administration calls this foreign policy.
